About Ambulance for Kids
Our organisation
The Ambulance for Kids project aims to make the evacuation of children in Ukraine safer, more professional and more child-friendly.
Our vision
Our plan is to buy a German Mobile Intensive Care Unit from my Partner-NGO “Deutsche Flugambulanz gGmbH” in May.
Once I have this and the equipment, I will go to Ukraine for 4-6 months to set up my project.
Our goals
Our goal is to present the AFK to all children's hospitals in Ukraine and to the Ministry.
Of course, I want to keep my own financal risk as low as possible. Because I will be on unpaid holidays during this time, I need further support to be able to continue to pay my own costs and the running costs in Ukraine (Vehicles need to be repaired, hotel and petrol costs need to be paid) and of course, insurances for the volunteers have to be paid.
The AFK Project
Why is a special vehicle like a Pädiatric Mobile intensive care unit (PMICU) is needed?
• Children are not "small adults"!
• Very special equipment is not available in a normal ambulance.
• "Normal" Paramedics usually do not have the necessary expertise.
• Even German rescue services often improvise.
• For a 30-minute drive to the nearest hospital this is certainly not a problem, but in Ukraine I drive up to 26 hours on roads in very poor condition
